Tyson Jardine, 37, of Kuna, was arrested on the evening of July 26, 2024, on a series of charges related to explosive materials.

On the evening of July 24, 2024, officers from the Kuna Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the area of ​​E. 4th St. and Orchard Ave in Kuna for a report of suspicious circumstances. During their investigation, possible explosives and numerous suspicious chemicals were located in the garage.

Boise Police Bomb Squad arrived on scene to evaluate the devices and chemicals. The devices were found to be explosive in nature.

Residents were asked to evacuate.

At the time, partner organizations including the FBI, the Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Idaho National Guard’s 101st Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team were deployed to assist with the assessment, processing, removal and destruction of the weapons and chemicals.

Preliminary information indicated that there was no mass destruction of public safety. Additionally, Tyson had not been seen by friends and family for approximately two weeks and was believed to be in the Pine/Featherville area of ​​Elmore County with limited cell service.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office ACTION Team and Ada Metro SWAT, in conjunction with the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, located Tyson at a campsite near Pine. When confronted by police, Tyson attempted to flee in his vehicle. Tyson backed into a Meridian Police armored vehicle and then struck the Ada Metro Bearcat armored vehicle, damaging both vehicles. Tyson was subsequently taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Elmore County Jail without bail. Tyson was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest.

Tyson will be extradited to the Ada County Jail pending arraignment.

Tyson was charged with five counts of felony unlawful possession of an explosive device (IC 18-3319). This case is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
