Man arrested in connection with fatal stabbing in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Baton Rouge police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal stabbing.

According to police, Michael Kimbrel, 66, was found dead in his Wooddale Boulevard home on July 24. Autopsy results showed he had been stabbed.


Police arrested Alan Coons, 61, and charged him with second-degree murder. Police said they believe Kimbrel and Coons had an “argument that led to the stabbing.”

Coons was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Police are still investigating a separate stabbing that occurred on June 12 on South Flannery Road. A 22-year-old woman has been charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder.
