Motorcyclist seriously injured in collision with sedan near Frandor

LANSING TWP. — A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday night in a crash at a busy intersection near the Frandor Shopping Center.

The intersection of East Grand River Avenue and Howard Street was closed for about three hours after the 9:29 p.m. collision while investigators conducted a full reconstruction of the incident, police said.

The motorcyclist, a 52-year-old Lansing man, was traveling west on Grand River when he collided with a sedan traveling south on Howard and was thrown from the motorcycle, said Lansing Township Police Lt. Aaron Lightner.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to UM Health-Sparrow with life-threatening injuries. The woman driving the sedan was not injured. She cooperated with police, Lightner said.

The accident was investigated by the Ingham Regional Crash Investigation Team.
