Driver accused of drink driving in fatal Brighton crash

DENVER (KDVR) — A man is facing charges of second-degree murder and drunk driving in a fatal crash early Saturday morning in Brighton.

The 2:45 a.m. incident was first reported when a man was found lying on the ground for unknown reasons near the 4500 block of Southern Street.


Brighton police reported that a 25-year-old was driving eastbound in a Chevrolet Tahoe near the 4500 block of Southern Street when a 50-year-old man got out of the Tahoe and “was struck by the vehicle.” The 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ronnie Vigil, 25, was arrested and booked into the Adams County Jail on multiple charges, including manslaughter in traffic and driving under the influence, for allegedly driving a vehicle involved in the fatal crash.

The identification of the victim is being withheld until the Adams County Coroner’s Office can identify the deceased and notify next of kin. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Brighton Police Department tip line at 303-655-8740.
