Dr. Stacie NC Grant, International President and CEO, also emphasized the importance of the new members. She noted, “The work of our Honorary Member Class of 2024 is aligned with Zeta Phi Beta’s dedication to helping others excel in mind, body, and spirit. As the premier women’s service organization founded by five extraordinary Black women, we are proud to expand membership to this group of women, and on behalf of all Zeta Phi Beta members, I welcome them to the sisterhood.”

Leela James initially gained widespread recognition with her debut album, “A Change Is Gonna Come,” which earned her Soul Train and NAACP Award nominations. With seven albums and a string of successful Top 20 R&B singles, including the hit “Complicated,” James has cemented her place in the music industry with a steady output of smooth, radio-friendly ballads.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, James is deeply committed to empowering young women. Her GIRLS TALK initiative provides critical support to women facing challenges in love, career, health and well-being. As a new member of Zeta Phi Beta, James will strengthen the sorority’s Black Health and Wellness programs, with a specific focus on mental health. She will also provide support to Zeta Youth Affiliates.
