4 hospitalized after crash in Rancho Murieta area of ​​Sacramento County

RANCHO MURIETA — Four people are hospitalized, two in critical condition, after a crash in the Rancho Murieta area of ​​Sacramento County, officials reported Monday night.

Around 8:15 p.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred at Jackson Road and Murieta Drive, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reported.

The other two injured suffered minor injuries. A fifth person involved refused treatment.

It is not yet clear what exactly happened, but photos released by the fire department show that the damage to the vehicle appears to be consistent with a head-on collision or T-bone crash.

According to authorities, one of the vehicles suffered heavy damage to the front and then caught fire. The other vehicle suffered heavy damage to the driver’s side.

Initially, two trauma helicopters were called to the scene of the accident, but they were canceled. All four patients were flown by land to nearby hospitals, the fire department said.
