Several people were hospitalized, two seriously, in a car crash near Sacramento.

(FOX40.COM) — Two people are in critical condition and several others have been injured after a serious car crash, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.

Around 8:15 p.m. Monday, Metro Fire responded to what they are calling a “multi-casualty incident” near Jackson Highway and Murieta Drive in Rancho Murieta. The crash involved five people, four of whom were transported to a local hospital. Details about the two people in critical condition have not been released.

Officials said the California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. As of 9:30 p.m., Jackson Highway is closed in both directions.
