Louisiana Lottery Confirms $50,000 Powerball Win Monday

From their offices in Baton Rouge, the Louisiana Lottery confirmed on their website that a ticket sold in Louisiana for Monday night’s Powerball drawing will win a big cash prize. Monday night’s multi-state Powerball drawing had a top prize of $142.6 million. That was the estimated annuity jackpot. The one-time payout predicted for Monday’s Powerball game was $67.9 million.

Powerball hadn’t produced a big-money win in Louisiana for some time. The most recent win before Monday’s $50,000 hit came on July 13. In that drawing, a ticket sold at a Racetrac Convenience Store on Burbank Drive in Baton Rouge matched four of the five white ball numbers and won $50,000.

According to the Louisiana Lottery Unclaimed Prizes tab, the $50,000 winner from July 13 has not yet been claimed. There is also a $50,000 winner sold in New Orleans for the March 18 drawing that expires in 46 days. And another $50,000 winner sold for the April 6 drawing. That ticket was also sold in the Greater New Orleans area and expires in 65 days, or October 3.

According to this report, the Louisiana Lottery has confirmed that, aside from Monday’s $50,000 winner, the Powerball wasn’t all that lucrative for Louisiana Powerball players. Only nine tickets sold statewide yielded a prize of more than $7. There were five $100 winners and four $300 winners.

Speaking of winners, the Louisiana Lottery still hasn’t released where Monday’s winner purchased $50,000. That information should be released later this morning, and this story will be updated to reflect that information.

Meanwhile, tonight’s Mega Millions lottery drawing will award a top prize of $331 million for the annuity jackpot.
