Off the news: Garbage truck shortage becoming a problem

Disruption to waste collection, an essential part of municipal services, is one of the lasting impacts of the pandemic, with all the supply chain delays that come with it.

Last week’s missed collections were due to a shortage of garbage trucks on Oahu, as their production has been delayed. City officials say that of the 73 trucks ordered over the past five years, only 17 have been received.
