Five more Tallahassee-area public schools get state grades

The Florida Department of Education released grades Tuesday morning for schools that had previously been given an “I” or incomplete status, five of which are in Leon County.

These five schools include Bond Elementary, Griffin Middle, and Godby, Leon and Rickards High Schools.

District spokesman Chris Petley said the schools were deemed incomplete because they did not meet the threshold of testing at least 95% of their students for state tests. He said that was partly because the tornadoes and storms on May 10, which kept schools in limbo for three days, came in the middle of the testing period.

This is how the five schools did

The Public School Report Card is an interactive database that allows parents and others to see how schools in their community are performing (grades and standardized test scores), as well as the gender and racial demographics of staff and students.

According to Petley, all five schools held their numbers from last year, with slight gains and improvements.

  • Bond Elementary maintained its B grade, with 93% of students receiving a passing grade.
  • Godby High retained its C grade, with 91% of pupils achieving a passing grade.
  • Griffin Middle maintained its C grade, with 91% of students receiving a passing grade.
  • Leon High maintained its B status, with 94% of students testing.
  • Rickards High retained its C grade, with 94% of students achieving a passing grade.
