Repeat sex offender sentenced to 20 years on sexual exploitation of minor charges

COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said a man was sentenced to 20 years after he was found guilty on sex crime charges involving a minor.

According to the attorney general, an investigator with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was sent files of child sexual abuse material in October 2022.

After obtaining subscriber information, the investigator was able to identify that the files had been sent from the house of Kenny Swaney in Anderson County. A search warrant was executed at his home in December 2022, where Swaney admitted to being the person responsible for the material.

He had been previously prosecuted by the attorney’s general officer for a smiliar incident in 2014 and was a registered as a sex offender from the conviction. Swaney had also previously been convicted of a hands-on offense against a child.

Swaney was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree.

He was sentenced to 10 years on all four charges, with one of the sexual exploitation of a minor 3rd degree charges to run consecutive to the other charges. The other charges will run concurrently with each other.

The defendant was also on probation when he was arrested, and he was revoked in full to run concurrently with the sentences he received on the sexual exploitation a minor conviction.
