Full closure of US Highway 60 between Superior and Miami planned for August 13-15

SUPERIOR – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to expect a complete closure of U.S. Highway 60 between Superior and Miami, mile markers 227-243, from 09.00 – 14.00 hrs Tuesday August 13, and Thursday August 15for blasting work as part of the US 60, Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridges replacement project.

  • US Highway 60 between Miami and Magma Mine Road (mileposts 231-243) remains open to local traffic only.
  • The flag-raising work will take place from 5:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14.

DETOUR: Drivers heading east on US Highway 60 will use State Route 177 south through Winkleman to SR 77 north. Drivers heading west on US Highway 60 will use State Route 177 south through Winkleman to SR 177 north. Due to the length of this detour of approximately 75 miles, drivers may want to plan their trips before 9:00 a.m. and after 2:00 p.m. It is estimated that the detour will add an additional hour to trips between Superior and Miami.

Lane restrictions, speed reductions, and a 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in effect for the duration of the project. Oversized loads may be accommodated with prior notice.

Drivers should allow for additional travel time, be carefulbe prepared for to slow down, And merge safely when approaching and crossing all work zones.
