WATCH: ‘Godfather of Harlem’ Gives First Look at FuturNotorious Kingpin ‘Frank Lucas’ Played by Rome Flynn

“Godfather of Harlem” has just revealed the first image from the highly anticipated fourth season, giving fans a glimpse of Rome Flynn in his new guest role as Frank Lucas. You guys know who Frank Lucas was, right? Well… American Gangster. Yes, that Frank Lucas.

Flynn joins the series alongside series lead Forest Whitaker.

Listen, the upcoming season will see Lucas in a version set 10 years before the events depicted in the film “American Gangster,” where the character was famously played by Denzel Washington. Flynn’s portrayal will introduce viewers to a younger Frank Lucas, chronicling his rise to fame before he became the infamous figure in the film.

Okay, so according to MGM+, Lucas is portrayed as “a country boy from North Carolina who moves to Harlem and, after some initial friction with gangster Bumpy Johnson, eventually rises to become Bumpy’s fierce defender and right-hand man.”

Check out the official Season 4 synopsis for more insight:

“In the upcoming season, Bumpy Johnson (Whitaker) intensifies his brutal battle for control of Harlem, clashing with New York’s mafia families and confronting the rise of a formidable new adversary in newly arrived black gangster Frank Lucas (Flynn). Additionally, following the tragic death of Malcolm X (Jason Alan Carvell), Bumpy must grapple with his daughter Elise’s (Antoinette Crowe-Legacy) involvement with the Black Panthers.”
