As migrants flood into US — Harris ad promises border controls

Critics blasted a slick new ad from Vice President Harris’ presidential campaign, in which she promised to address the chaos at the border. One asked, “How stupid do they think we are?”

In the 30-second video posted to YouTube earlier this week, a narrator praises Harris’ record.

“Kamala Harris has spent decades fighting violent crime. As a prosecutor in a border state, she took on drug cartels and jailed gang members for smuggling guns and drugs across the border.

“As vice president, she sponsored the toughest border enforcement law in decades, and as president, she’ll hire thousands more border agents and crack down on fentanyl and human trafficking. Fixing the border is hard. So is Kamala Harris,” the narrator promises.

But critics didn’t believe it.

“This is the new Harris ad. Makes you wonder how stupid they think voters are to believe she was ‘tough on the border,’” Sean Spicer, a former White House spokesman, wrote in an X posting.

Republican Party political adviser Ryan Girdusky was similarly dismayed, noting that Biden-Harris has sent nearly 100 migrants who were on the terror watch list into the country.

“How stupid do they think we are. If Harris wanted to do this, she should have done it three and a half years ago. She could have done it now, because she’s still the border czar — I don’t think she’s ever been removed from that post,” Girdusky said.

The spot focuses in particular on the fact that Kamala Harris, as border czar, is responsible for an unprecedented migrant crisis.

While encounters with migrants have declined in recent months after President Biden temporarily suspended the entry of certain non-citizens across the southern border in June, they were at historic highs earlier this year.

Also in February, border guards arrested 189,922 migrants, a new record for that month.

Even migrants who are taken into custody are often released into the United States. The Biden-Harris administration has released nearly three-quarters of the migrants who crossed the border illegally through San Diego this year.

In New York City, migrants bused in from Texas and other countries have settled as permanent residents in the Big Apple’s hotels and sprawling tent cities at taxpayers’ expense.
