James Agbey vows to tackle Wontumi over false Agyapadie claims on Jane Opoku Agyemang

James Agbey, a operative of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said that the accusation by Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), Chairman of the Ashanti Region of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), that the running mate of the NDC flagbearer, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, wrote the Agyapadie document is a mixture of untruths, blatant lies and clear disinformation.

He says Chairman Wontumi’s statements are intended to distract from the real issues raised in the Agyapadie document.

Chairman Wontumi opened that “Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman wrote the Agyapadie book and she deliberately did not put her name to it. If you want, look at her book and compare the things that John Mahama came to say. During the time of President Kufour, it was the same thing that they came to do,” he alleged.

But in a statement, James Agey said: “Wontumi’s twisted conclusion here is a grossly dishonest, distorted and deliberately misleading attempt to run away from the real issues, but the facts relating to the Agyapadie document tell a much more complex and different story.”

The Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, also known as Wontumi, continues to shamelessly display his recklessness, debauchery and obsessive devotion to self-promotion, which is against the interests of Ghana.

Wontumi’s latest tirade against the NDC’s 2024 running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, is a mixture of untruths, blatant lies and obvious disinformation aimed at diverting attention from the real issues raised in the Agyapadie document.

He gave a rather naughty opinion on Abusua FM: “Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman wrote the Agyapadie book and she deliberately did not put her name to it. If you want, look at her book and compare the things that John Mahama came to say. In the time of President Kufour, it was the same thing they came to do,” he alleged.

Wontumi’s twisted conclusion is a very dishonest, distorted and deliberately misleading attempt to run away from the real issues. However, the facts surrounding the Agyapadie document tell a much more complex and different story.

Anyone with a shred of decency knows that Wontumi is a mess of a politician. Attention-seeking has become his thing and he says and does crazy things in order to get media attention.

In fact, the entire nation knows that Wontumi’s trademark is to make shameless attacks, slander and accusations based on no evidence and solely for political gain.

As the critical people that we are, I am confident that Ghanaians will continue to distinguish between misinformation and disinformation on the one hand and desperation and lies on the other. And those who are driven by self-interest, mercenary considerations and a disruptive political agenda of people like Wontumi.

Just a few days ago, President Akufo-Addo was speaking at a conference on misinformation and disinformation and also warned of the dangers of the threat. And today we have his regional party chairman leading the chorus and dispelling misinformation.

Politicians like Wontumi know that bad behavior usually has little cost. In fact, he thinks bad behavior gives him a boost. But I want to assure him that he will not get away with this as long as I remain an NDC employee.

Let Wontumi and all other agents of disinformation know that no amount of dirty propaganda, bullshit, lies, half-truths, misrepresentations, misinformation or disinformation will save the NPP from impending electoral defeat.

The truth is that the Agyapadie document is the work of the “Akyem mafia” and no amount of lies from people like Wontumi will change that.
