On Friday CNN News Evening, staffer Scott Jennings joked, “I want to first welcome Kamala Harris, the vice president, to the Republican Party” after watching Kamala Harris’ new ad on immigration.

The ad, titled “Tougher” on YouTube, features an announcer bragging, “As a border state prosecutor, she took on drug cartels and jailed gang members for smuggling guns and drugs across the border.” They claim that as vice president, Harris supported the “toughest” immigration bill in decades (but only this year), which completely ignores the fact that Biden has repealed every tough border measure Donald Trump has imposed.

It ends with: “It’s hard to mend the border – Kamala Harris too.” Jennings herself said:

JENNINGS: Well, I mean, I saw her ad today and I thought, did I—did I miss something in the, did she switch parties? Is she running as a Republican now? Because if you were an alien and you landed on this planet and you didn’t know anything, and you saw that ad, you’d say, “Well, that Republican, she’s looking pretty tough on the border right now.

There is no way in hell that anyone in this country is going to believe that Kamala Harris or any other Democratic presidential candidate, after everything they’ve said and done, is going to be any tougher on the border than Donald Trump. I want to Venmo the DNC right now so they can keep running these ads and reminding people what a disaster this is.

Republicans have consistently maintained that Biden repealed Trump’s policies by executive order and that he can restore them by executive order.

Former RNC spokesperson Madison Gesiotto was on the CNN set and exclaimed, “This is the gaslighting of the century. You know it, I know it. You can talk about all the bills you want, but the reality is if Biden-Harris gets into office, they’re going to roll back a lot of the policies that have stopped people from coming across the border. And that’s the reality of how we got to where we are today.”
