‘Volunteer’ arrested for possession of child pornography, over 600 obscene images of minors: police

Authorities suspect there may be more victims after a man who volunteered with local organizations was arrested in an investigation into child sexual exploitation.

West Covina Police Department detectives, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Department of Homeland Security office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, executed a federal warrant Thursday, West Covina police said.

The man, 39-year-old Matthew Mullen, was arrested and charged with possession of more than 600 obscene images and possession of sexually explicit/pornographic material involving minors.

“Mullen’s volunteer work with local organizations has led investigators to believe there are additional victims,” ​​authorities said.

HSI Los Angeles and the West Covina Police Department are asking the public for any information that may assist in the investigation.
