The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) says it is engaged in a fierce battle in the country’s major ports against the continued innovation of major South American cartels that have targeted the Dominican Republic as a bridge to Europe.

As reported, the seizures of cocaine shipments of more than one ton in the ports of Haina and Caucedo, destined for Europe, confirm that Europe has become the epicentre of the global cocaine trade, where the price per kilogram is between 55,000 and 60,000 euros, more than double the price in the United States.

In both ports of Greater Santo Domingo, a silent war is being waged against drug trafficking. The Dominican Republic has become a major player in this, thanks to the privileged access that the United States has granted local authorities to the most modern control centers for criminal activities in the Caribbean.
