‘Law & Order’ Podcast Launches Through Uni TV, Wolf Entertainment and iHeart

EXCLUSIVE: Law and order will focus on podcasts.

Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment, which produces the long-running crime franchise, have signed a deal with iHeartPodcasts to Law and order: criminal justice system.

The move marks the brand’s first foray into investigative journalism and its first original podcast series – a Law and Order: SVU podcast summary, The Squadroom, was launched in 2019 and aired about 25 episodes.

The deal includes four seasons of 12 episodes, with the first season launching on August 22.

Hosted by former Brooklyn homicide officer Anna-Sigga Nicolazzi, the series begins with an exploration of the American Mafia in New York City, chronicling the real-life downfall of the most notorious criminal organization in history. Set against the backdrop of 1979, the series reveals how an unlikely team of young local police officers and prosecutors defy the odds to dismantle the Mafia’s grip on the city.

It begins with the murder of Carmine Galante, a powerful boss in the Bonanno crime family. The killing would become a cornerstone in the Mafia Commission Trial – the case that forever paralyzed organized crime in the United States and ended the golden age of the Mafia. It will feature first-hand accounts of the investigations, surveillance, legal battles and personal sacrifices made by those on the front lines.

Law and Order: Criminal Justice System is produced by Elliot Wolf, who also serves as EVP Digital for Wolf Entertainment, and is distributed by iHeartPodcasts.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit enters season 26 and Law and order enters season 24.

“We are thrilled to join forces with iHeartPodcasts and UTV to bring the real stories that shaped our criminal justice system, the foundation of Law and order brand, to life,” Wolf said. “The goal was always to push the boundaries of audio storytelling, and this series delivers that while still being highly informative and entertaining.”
