Rapper BeatKing, known for the viral TikTok song ‘Then Leave’, has died at the age of 39

BeatKing, a Houston hip-hop artist who collaborated with artists including Ludacris, 2 Chainz, Moneybagg Yo and Juicy J, has died at the age of 39.

The rapper was reportedly rushed to a Houston hospital Thursday morning after passing out at a local radio station. He later died of a pulmonary embolism, a BeatKing spokesperson confirmed to TMZ.

His manager, Tasha Felder, also confirmed his death in a statement posted to Instagram Thursday evening.

“BeatKing has been the best member of the club for over a decade,” she wrote. “He produced so many artists and worked with so many artists that his sound will live on forever. He loved his daughters, his music and his fans. We will always love him.”

Three 6 Mafia responded to Felder’s post, writing, “RIP MANE!!! GREAT BROTHER!!”

Houston rap great Bun B, of UKG, shared his condolences in a separate Instagram post, writing: “It’s always the good ones. Damn this hurts. Just an amazing spirited person. We lost a talented artist and father.”

BeatKing, also known as #ClubGodzilla, was born Justin Riley and was seen as a key figure in Houston’s underground music scene.

He gained popularity in recent years when his sexually explicit party anthems “Thick” and “Then Leave” went viral on TikTok.

The latter song reached number three on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and number 48 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

His most recent album, “Never Leave Houston on a Sunday,” was released in July.

He is survived by two daughters, Jayla and Kayla.
