Attorney General Knudsen Responds to Supreme Court Decision on Title IX

The United States Supreme Court has blocked the Biden-Harris administration from enforcing its Title IX rule, which has been criticized for endangering the rights and safety of girls and young women. In response to the decision, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen released a statement expressing his approval.

“Boys shouldn’t be allowed in the girls’ locker room. I’m glad the Supreme Court agreed with us today. I will continue to fight to protect young women and uphold Montana law against federal overreach,” Knudsen said.

In June, Attorney General Knudsen obtained an injunction in a lawsuit challenging the Department of Education’s rule. The challenged rule sought to expand Title IX, which prohibits discrimination in education on the basis of sex, to include “gender identity.” Critics argue that the expansion would prevent schools from segregating between men and women in athletic and educational opportunities, thereby disadvantaging women. It would also require boys and girls to share bathrooms, locker rooms, dormitories, and overnight accommodations during school trips.
