Khel Khel Mein director Mudassar Aziz responds to people criticising Akshay Kumar for his film choices: ‘Ridiculous to ask him to prove his star status…’

Akshay Kumar has been constantly on the radar of critics after his consecutive box office failures. His recently released Khel Khel Mein is currently in theatres. On the other hand, director Mudassar Aziz showered the actor with praises as he criticized people who judged him for his recent debacles. The filmmaker praised the actor for his illustrious journey.

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Khel Khel Mein director Mudassar Aziz criticized people who condemned Akshay Kumar for his recent failures. He felt that he was not in a position to respond on behalf of the actor, but called the chatter “completely baseless”. He stated that people who criticise the actor are not in a position to do so.

The director mentioned that Kumar has been in the industry for 33 years and is responsible for people’s happy memories. He went on to highlight the actor’s journey to become a self-made star who came to Mumbai from Delhi, worked as a waiter and assisted a photographer. “It’s ridiculous that he is being asked to prove his stardom to us even after 33 years,” he added.

Mudassar went on to praise the “intelligent” actor. He stated that the actor thinks about everything and the level of dedication he has makes him take very few wrong decisions. “He just laughs at all the judgements he gets, that’s the attitude I see in him. I want to be him when I’m 57,” he noted.

The actor recalled talking about his “difficult times” with Kumar as his eyes filled with tears. He admitted that he has not seen even 10 percent of the success that the actor has seen. According to him, the Khel Khel Mein actor is a “cult of his own” and finds it strange when someone turns around to seek justification for his stardom.

“If a few page views enable people to criticise him, then 33 years of experience enables Akshay Kumar to do the kind of work he wants to do. That’s all I want to say,” he concluded.

Akshay Kumar is currently enjoying the release of Mudassar Aziz’s Khel Khel Mein. The comedy-drama film also starring Taapsee Pannu, Aditya Seal, Ammy Virk, Pragya Jaiswal and more was released on Independence Day.
