Security Breaches and Political Friction: Gaurav Gogoi vs Assam CM

Congress deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, on Sunday criticised Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Home Ministry for failing to ensure adequate security after ‘bomb-like substances’ were discovered at 10 locations after ULFA(I) claimed to have planted 24 bombs.

Gogoi criticised the BJP-led government and wondered if the police and intelligence agencies were incompetent in preventing the planting of ‘suspicious objects’ in the state. He pointed out that the home ministry failed to detect the threat despite modern surveillance techniques.

The Opposition leader alleged that Sarma’s Home Ministry is more focused on protecting mafia, cow smugglers and syndicates than ensuring public safety. Gogoi also criticised Sarma’s previous tenures in various ministries, highlighting his failure to deliver effective governance.
