Illegal square closed

ISLAMABAD:

An illegally constructed square in Gulrez area was sealed by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).

The occupation mafia constructed an illegal commercial building without any approval or NOC. An operation was conducted against the illegal commercial building with the cooperation of the Airport Police Station. On the instructions of DG RDA, the illegal commercial building and the supplementary plan map were sealed and seized and an FIR was registered against the occupation mafia.

The RDA administration had first sent notices to the property owners. The illegal square was constructed without approval of the site plan. The plot was reportedly registered in the name of another owner, identified as Sardar Yasir Rashid.

After another party illegally occupied the property, they built a building on the site without a site plan being approved. The RDA board then worked with the police and sealed the building.

Sardar Yasir Rasheed, the owner of the kanal-sized plot, appreciated the performance of the RDA and the airport police.

He said the square is illegal and has been closed in the past, but the occupation mafia is so powerful that they closed it illegally on their own and resumed construction of the building.

“The RDA board has intervened forcefully and closed the case again,” he acknowledged.
