NFL legend confirms LeBron James’ motivation behind Warriors trade rejection: ‘Wouldn’t be fair’

NBA Insider Marc Stein shook up the NBA world with a shocking update on LeBron James. Around the trade deadline last season, the Warriors approached the LA Lakers about a trade King James, which was ultimately rejected. While it remained a failed trade attempt in history, Stein dug it up and revealed Rich Paul’s strategic involvement in the decision. This update left pundits and analysts in shock, except for ex-NFL star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, who shot down the takeover with his own theory.

Stein reported that Rich Paul “strongly against” the Warriors trade, fearing a backlash from the public for constantly switching sides. In particular, Lakers Insider Trevor Lane compared the situation to Kevin Durant jumping to the Golden State Warriors and facing a major backlash from the fans. Nevertheless, Chad Johnson dismissed both opinions in the latest episode of Nightcap.

Shannon Sharpe read Marc Stein’s report and asked Johnson for his opinion. The former NFL player said, without blinking, “Do you think that’s true? I don’t think Bron would leave, no matter what. You already have your rings, no reason to team up with Steph.” Sharpe didn’t seem to let it go, however, as he reminded Chad of Steph & Bron’s recent Olympic successes and asked if he wouldn’t like to see them in the upcoming regular season.

Chad Johnson again took the moral high ground, saying: “That wouldn’t be fair. It wouldn’t be any different than Steph and goddamn KD and goddamn Draymond and Klay. That wouldn’t be fair.” Sharpe even added some lighthearted humor, saying: “They had it for three years,” it reminded him of the three years the Dubs spent with Kevin Durant.

On the other hand, Johnson had a bit of advice for LeBron James. He added: “At that point in your career there really was no need to make any changes… your legacy is already solidified, everything you’ve done and accomplished so far, you might as well just go off into the sunset over there in LA.”

Chad Johnson isn’t the first to say that LeBron James wouldn’t switch teams. Before the Warriors’ trade request, there were already plenty of rumors swirling around the NBA world about the superstar’s move. In particular, rumors of James moving to the NY Knicks seemed almost believable until they eventually fizzled out. Anyway, back to the topic: it was Kendrick Perkins who said that James wouldn’t switch teams from the Lakers.

Perkins, speaking about the trade rumors, recently added: “Man, ‘Bron ain’t going nowhere! He don’t need to go to the Knicks. The Knicks don’t need ‘Bron… At the end of the day, your partner is Anthony Davis. Y’all in the same Klutch mafia. Where y’all going? You can’t leave AD hanging”

Still, no one can be so sure King James future in the league, especially after the images from the Paris Olympics. The images of Stephen Curry and Bron’s brewing chemistry on the court. Do you think Steph and Bron would team up in the future? Let us know in the comments below.
