Prime Minister Browne announces ‘fire with fire’ approach to combat rising crime in Antigua and Barbuda

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has issued a stern warning to criminals in Antigua and Barbuda, vowing to take strong action against rising crime.

Browne, speaking to Border Patrol officials on Monday, said: “We have more manpower and more firepower. We will fight fire with fire and steel with steel.”

He assured the public that authorities have the necessary expertise and resources to combat criminal activity and prevent fear from spreading. Browne called on border protection personnel to intensify their efforts and promised immediate access to all necessary resources.

“This is about taking action,” he stressed, urging law enforcement to take decisive action and crack down on criminals, including those who come to the country to commit serious crimes. Browne also stressed the need to dismantle gangs, stressing the importance of strategies to disrupt their activities and redirect members to productive activities.
