ECPAT stands for: End Child Prostitution, child pornography And the Trafficking of children for sexual purposes. ECPAT International is a global network that is committed to eradicating commercial sexual exploitation of children. ECPAT-NL creates awareness about commercial sexual exploitation of children in Dutch society. ECPAT-NL also lobbies for adequate and effective law enforcement, prevention and health care programs with regard to the prevention of sexual exploitation of children at government and societal level. The private sector, such as internet providers and the tourism industry, is also addressed to take responsibility for protecting children from sexual exploitation. ECPAT-NL has played an important role in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Dutch National Action Plan on Sexual Abuse of Children.
