‘Mafia 4’ Announced as ‘Mafia: The Old Country’

Take-Two Interactive and Hangar 13 have officially announced Mafia 4of Mafia: The Old Country will be released next year.

In 2022, it was confirmed that a “brand new” mafia game was in development following the success of Mafia: The Definitive Edition but Hangar 13 has kept the details largely secret.

Last night (August 20), the studio finally confirmed during Gamescom Opening Night Live Mafia 4 would be launched next year and Mafia: The Old Country.

According to a press release, players can “discover the origins of organized crime with a gritty mafia story set in the brutal underworld of Sicily in the 1900s.”

The sequel: “Fight to survive in this dangerous and unforgiving era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storyline of the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for.”

“In the first three mentions of the Mafia “Throughout the franchise, we’ve introduced players to the world of the mafia through gritty stories set across different time periods,” said Nick Baynes, president of Hangar 13.

“In Mafia: The Old Country“We’re going back to the roots of what fans love about the franchise. We’re creating a deep, linear story with that classic mafia movie feel, visiting a stunning new setting, and delivering it all in a tight, focused package that’s perfect for fans of immersive experiences.”

Mafia: The Old Country will release on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC during Take-Two’s 2026 fiscal year, which begins on April 1, 2025 and runs through March 31, 2026. However, the studio has also given the game a 2025 release window. More details about the game are expected later this year.

In other news, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has finally been given a release date, while Xbox has also confirmed that the title will get a PlayStation release.
