Woman arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after collision with boy on bicycle | Crime & Justice

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 31-year-old woman after she allegedly hit a boy who was crossing the street on an electric bike and then rode away.

Deputies responded Wednesday to the area of ​​Inverness Parkway and South Jamaica Street, east of Park Meadows Mall, after a report of a collision involving a boy riding an electric bike across the street.

According to a social media post from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Using traffic cameras, investigators were able to identify the vehicle, which was headed toward Arapahoe County. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office was then able to locate the vehicle and arrest the driver, who was then turned over to Douglas County deputies.

The suspect was taken to the Douglas County Detention Facility and arrested on five charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving causing bodily injury, driving on an expired license and more.

The sheriff has not been able to identify the suspect at this time.
