If there are no delays, 2025 looks set to be one of the best years for game releases

After Gamescom 2024’s Opening Night Live revealed a host of updates on some of the most anticipated titles, everything points to next year being one of the best games of the past decade.

The event confirmed several release dates and added games such as GTA 6, Mafia, Death Stranding 2, Borderlands 4and many more titles coming out as early as 2025. If none of these major game releases come out later than this year, it’s likely to be a game to remember in the industry.

Despite the expected dearth of major titles in the first two quarters of this year, all rumors and trailers suggest that change is coming in 2025.

Many of the most anticipated titles of the past few years are finally getting their chance to release in 2025, making it one of the most significant launches around. One of the most notable games will be the highly anticipated GTA 6.

Gamescom 2024 Opening night live took place yesterdaywith more games scheduled for release in 2025. Another notable title was Borderlands 4making it a new addition to the long list of games that would be released that same year.

IPs such as Gears of War: E-Day, Fable and Death Stranding 2that fans have been eagerly awaiting for years, belong to that category. It will be an exceptional match.

Franchises making a comeback after huge success will see 2025 be a year of unprecedented releases for the industry.

Not only will Rockstar Games be launching its flagship game, but PlayStation will likely have a lot more in store than just Hideo Kojima’s highly anticipated title. With more games added next year, the possibilities are looking increasingly promising.

Even franchises like Pokémon will return, along with Nintendo games such as Metroid Prime 4which is also rumored to be available for the Switch 2, possibly releasing in 2025.

All of these announcements help the industry regain some visibility after a lackluster 2024, which saw titles disappoint various communities in recent months. For now, this year still has a few big titles to offer.

With the recent release of Black Myth: Wukong and the coming Space Marine 2There are still several highly anticipated games that are yet to be released before the end of the year. Bandai Namco will also release the highly anticipated Dragon Ball Sparks! Zero in October.

Meanwhile, Activision will Call of duty franchise after Modern Warfare 3 did not meet the expectations of the fans, with Black Ops 6 with the aim of changing that disappointing experience.
