Suspect arrested in child pornography investigation

Robert Clark Taylor, 42, of Gemstone Drive in Statesville, was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers last Friday (August 16). He has been charged with 10 counts of felony sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree.

On May 31, 2024, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The organization advised the Sheriff’s Office of possible child pornography in the possession of an individual in Iredell County. The investigation was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit. The suspect was identified as Robert Clark Taylor. As part of the investigation, interviews were conducted and search warrants were executed.

As a result of the evidence gathered during the investigation, Taylor was arrested and charged. He was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. Taylor was held under a $500,000 bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (August 21). A District Court date has been set for September 9.
