Northeast Georgia Republicans Call for Tougher Border Policies at Jaemor Farms Event

Republican leaders in Georgia called for stricter border rules and encouraged voters to choose former President Donald Trump at a rally in northeast Georgia on August 20.

The Republican political leaders were joined by local sheriffs at the event at Jaemor Farms in Hall County. They made the case for a second term for Trump, citing security, immigration policy and inflation as reasons to vote for the former president.

Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell said he hopes stricter border regulations can slow the flow of drug trafficking into the U.S.

“We’re all dealing with the side effects of it,” he said. “And not only that, we’re dealing with the families. Those who love — lose loved ones. And it’s not just drug cartels. All gangs are connected to drugs.”

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, illegal border crossings fell 30% between June and July, the lowest level since President Biden took office.
