Hangar 13 confirms The Old Country will indeed feature Italian voice actors, responding to reports to the contrary

Gamescom 2024 concluded with the announcement in the Mafia series dubbed The old country that will revisit its roots, Al Bacio. Hangar 13 President Nick Bayes confirmed this a few days ago. But it is not just a return to the roots; the team is inclined to make it as authentic as possible.

The first two main games had more Italian elements, as the first game showed Tommy Angelo’s rise and fall in the Salieri crime family, while the subsequent sequel told the story of a Sicilian-American, Vito Scaletta. The third game follows the story of Vietnam War veteran Lincoln Clay.

Fans don’t really need to continue this debate after this confirmation

Mafia: The Old Country - Official Teaser Trailer

Next year will likely be a year filled with the most anticipated matches for fans, and the new Mafia game is one of themThe first two games in the series were praised by critics, while the third main game received mixed reviews.

It seems that developers wanted to give more details about the term ‘Mafia’ for the latest addition to the game. In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), it was revealed that Sicilian voiceovers will be included in the game.

This will reassure the fans who started a debate thinking it wouldn’t be discussed in the Hangar 13 game.

The next mafia game will likely delve deeper into the origins of the term

More details about the game are said to be revealed in December 2024, but the trailer description says: “discover the origins of organized crime“. Maybe we’ll see where it all began. Not the game, but the infamous term itself.

Many scholars believe that the origins of Mafia date back to the 19th century, while others suggest that it dates back to the Middle Ages. Some interpretations also indicate that it originated as a secret organization to overthrow foreign conquerors such as the Spanish and Normans.

Furthermore, it is said to have recruited its members from the mafia, a term used at the time for small private armies. Absentee landowners hired them to protect their land from bandits. These recruits eventually turned against their landowners and became the organization on which the game is based.

If you dig deeper, you can find even more stories about this. Perhaps the game has delved into it to provide a delightful story that fans will love. We won’t know for sure until the game arrives, but we should see more details about the upcoming game soon.
