Hangar 13 announced Mafia: The Old Country at Gamescom Opening Night Live after numerous rumors, and it will be released in 2025. While gameplay details have not yet been revealed, the official Twitter has confirmed that Sicilian voice acting has been added.

“Authenticity is central to the Mafia franchise,” the series’ official Twitter reads, “And Mafia: The Old Country will feature Sicilian voice acting, in keeping with the game’s setting in 1900s Sicily.” The user interface and subtitles will also support Italian localization, further increasing immersion.

Mafia: The Old Country will launch for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Those expecting it early next year will have to wait, as publisher 2K has confirmed a fiscal year 2026 release (meaning it won’t launch before April 1, 2025). The prequel is said to star Don Salieri, presumably in his younger years, and will offer a more linear experience compared to Mafia 3’s open world approach.

Stay tuned for more details and potential gameplay footage in the coming months. In the meantime, Mafia: Definitive Editiona remake of the first game, is now available on Game Pass, so now is a great time to revisit the series.
