Assam: From gang rape to village attacks, 26 incidents of Islamist terror targeting Hindus after Lok Sabha elections

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 23 said that after the Lok Sabha ko, a section of the society has repeatedly attacked the tribal people in Assam. He said that the hoodlums have attacked 23 Assamese women in the last three months.

Organizer lists the 25 incidents of attacks on the Assamese Hindu community by Islamists in the last 3-4 months.

Extremist Islamists are terrorizing Assam after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Over the past four months, several incidents of rape, gang rape, land grabbing, attacks on police, love jihad and other crimes have taken place in different districts of Assam.

On May 3, 2024, Islamists abducted and raped a young Hindu girl in Tangabari village under the jurisdiction of Dudhnoi police station in Goalpara district. Islamists attacked the townspeople and family members who came to arrest them. The girl’s brother, Dhananjay Khaklari, died. Dhan Ali Talukder was arrested along with other accused Islamists.
On May 14, 2024, a group of Islamists led by Jaohar Khan attacked Hindu residents in Kayakuchi area of Barpeta district, injuring scores of Hindus.
On May 23, 2024, Islamists attacked the Khelmati police station in Lakhimpur district.
On June 7, 2024, a Hindu village in Kokrajhar’s Fakiragram district was attacked by Muslims. Hindu residents were resisting the Islamic land mafia group. So the Hindu village was attacked by Islamists.
On June 22, 2024, a Hindu woman was raped in Majbat. Police arrested Saddam Ali, Ehsan Ahmed, Hafizul Ali, Mohidul Islam and Mushtaq Ahmed.
June 24, 2024: In Dhekiajuli, a young girl from the Janajatia community was abducted and sexually abused. Police took Shahidul Islam into custody.
On June 26, 2024, an Islamist attack took place on a Hindu community in Golakganj. Islamists threatened the Hindu residents with requests to leave the village.
On June 27, 2024, a young Hindu girl was sexually assaulted in Thelamara area of Sonitpur district. Anarul Khan was arrested by the police.
On June 28, late in the evening, a young Muslim man tried to break into the girls’ dormitory of LAKD College in Dhekiajuli.
On June 29, 2024, a young Hindu girl was abducted by Islamist Abul Kalam in Vomolhati area of Baihata. Abul Kalam tried to rape her. Locals rescued her.
On June 29, Nais Ali wrongfully imprisoned a Hindu girl with a Hindu name. Nais Ali imprisoned the girl while concealing his identity. His arrest took place in Hugrajuli area.
Islamists stormed a Hindu graveyard in Sarvog area of Bareta district on June 30. Islamists forced open the gate of the Hindu crematorium. According to local Hindus, the raid was carried out to seize the Hindu crematorium land.
In Lamora, Dhekuajuli, a woman was sexually assaulted on July 1. Police took Samsul Islam, also known as Babul Ali, into custody.
On July 6, Islamists in Rangapora district of Shonitpur abducted and attempted to rape a Janajatia girl. Police took Dildar Hussain into custody.
On July 13, a 70-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a young Muslim woman in Matiya area of Goalpara district.
On July 20, a young Hindu girl was abducted from Ramhari area of Mangaldoi. Police arrested Sajel Ali.
On July 24, Hindu houses in Dhing, Nagaon district were attacked by a spray gang at night. A 65-year-old woman was also allegedly raped after the loot was taken away. Many Islamists from the “Spray Gang” were arrested by the police.
On July 28, a young Hindu girl was harassed and sexually abused in Hajo. Ibrahim Ali was arrested by the police.
On August 2, Muslim villagers in the Dhekiajuli district of Borsola attacked the police. To arrest a criminal, the police traveled to the village. Numerous police officers were injured.
On August 14, a Hindu youth was abducted from Azara area of Guwahati city. Param Ali was taken into custody by the police.
On August 17, Muslim villagers in Dangarkuchhi area of Barpeta district attacked Hindu villagers.
A Hindu girl at Assam University in Silchar was sexually assaulted on August 19. Police arrested Badruz Zaman Faruq.
On August 19, Islamists abducted a young Hindu girl in the Bihali area of Bure Ghat. They attempted to rape the girl. Abdul Hussain, Suraj Ali and Julud Hussain were arrested by the police.
On August 22, a young Hindu girl was abducted and sexually abused by a gang in Dhing district of Nagaon. Police arrested Junaidul Islam and Tafazzul Hussain. Tafazzul drowned while trying to escape from the police.
On August 23, two Muslim youths, Shahrukh Hussain and Miraj Ali, tried to molest two young women while they were taking an evening walk in the city of Tezpur. People captured Shahrukh, but Miraj escaped. Later in the evening, when the police raided his house, he tried to flee again. The police had to shoot at his leg to prevent him from escaping.
On August 23, in Sidli area, Village Defence Party (VDP) secretary Jaharuddin Dewan molested two Hindu girls and tried to sell them out of Assam in a human trafficking ring. Police arrested Dewan.
