Man dies after car and lorry collide in Shropshire

Police are looking for witnesses to the death of a man in a collision between a car and a truck on Friday morning.

The accident happened on the A483 between Mile End, Oswestry and Welshpool.

The driver of the car, a 59-year-old man, died at the scene. A seven-year-old passenger was taken to hospital by helicopter with life-threatening injuries.

A second man, the driver of the truck, was treated for minor injuries and was released from the scene.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident,” said Officer Ben Ward.

According to police, the crash involved a grey Audi S3 sedan, which was travelling towards Welshpool, and a blue Volvo lorry, which was travelling towards Mile End.

The road remains closed and will remain closed for “several hours”.
