Young Bills fans join in on game day festivities via junior tailgate

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — As the Bills wrapped up their pre-season preparations Saturday, young fans in the stands took part in an annual August tradition at Highmark Stadium: Kids Day.

This tradition offers the youngest members of Bills Mafia the chance to live their own version of the game experience, especially during this year’s junior tailgate.

“It’s awesome,” Bills fan Courtney Wacalwski said. “We just had our baby, she’s only nine months old. It’s really cute — lots of activities, lots of fun for the kids.”

Fisher Price helped organize the event and provided a variety of activities for the little ones to do before kick-off.

“We know there’s a lot of mafia and it starts at a young age in Buffalo, and it’s a great way to celebrate that and bring the power of Fisher Price to the tailgate,” said Julia Maher, senior director of marketing at Fisher Price.

They could participate in games, rock climbing, play football, mini golf and much more.

“I feel like sometimes you go to sporting events and it’s all grown up, all adult,” Bills fan Amanda Seeman said. “It shows them that it’s fun for them too, that the Bills aren’t about adults, they’re about kids too.”

And these kids are well on their way to becoming the next generation of Bills fans.

“They are good at playing and they win a lot of games,” said Alex, a young member of the Bills Mafia.

The Bills are now scheduled to begin the regular season, playing the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 on September 8.
