Five arrests for mafia activities in construction sector in uMsunduzi

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of intimidation and disturbance at a construction site at uMsunduzi in KZN on Saturday.

The suspects were arrested by the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Reaction Task Team, which was set up to curb the activities of the construction mafia.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda, spokesperson for the KZN police, said police had responded to reports of a group of people disrupting activities at a construction site where a bridge is under construction in uMsunduzi.

Upon arrival at the scene, police arrested the five suspects and charged them with intimidation and disrupting a construction site.

“The five suspects, aged between 28 and 44, will appear in Camperdown District Court on Monday,” Netshiunda said.
