TBI: California man accused of soliciting sexual images of children online

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 41-year-old California man has been arrested following an investigation into his “online behavior,” according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

According to officials, special agents from the TBI and Spencer Police Department were assigned to investigate an individual who “solicited sexually explicit photographs of minors online” in November 2022.

Further investigation reportedly revealed that police identified Erick Mayorga of Montebello, California, as a suspect.

On January 8, 2024, the Van Buren Grand Jury returned indictments charging Mayorga with 25 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means and two counts of unlawful exposure, authorities said.

Mayorga reportedly surrendered to police at the Van Buren County Jail on Sunday, Aug. 25. He is being held on $75,000 bail, the TBI said.

No further details about the incident were immediately released.
