FBI Names New Special Agent to Head Phoenix Field Office

(KYMA, KECY) – FBI Director Christopher Wray announced Monday that he has named Jose Perez special agent in charge of the Phoenix Field Office.

In a press release, Perez recently said he was serving as deputy assistant director in the Criminal Investigations Division at the FBI’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The press release states that Perez joined the agency as a special agent in 2003 and “was assigned to the Jackson Field Office, where he conducted violent crime and gang investigations under the Jackson Safe Streets Gang Task Force.”

Three years after joining the agency, Perez was transferred to the Miami Field Office, “where he worked on gang and drug trafficking organization investigations,” the press release said.

In 2013, Perez was promoted to supervisory special agent in the Criminal Investigations Division at FBI Headquarters, “where he led organized crime operations in South and Central America,” according to the press release.

Three years later, Perez was assigned to the Las Vegas department, “where he led the Violent Crimes Against Children and Human Trafficking Unit,” the press release said.

Perez then led the Violent Crimes Task Force “through several successful gang and Hobbs Act investigations, as well as the nomination and eventual arrest of one of the top ten fugitive criminals,” the press release said in 2017.

Perez also led the Las Vegas Joint Task Force in 2018, the press release said.

A year later, Perez was transferred to the Dallas Field Office, where he was promoted to assistant special agent and “oversaw the FBI Resident Agencies in North Texas,” the press release said.

In 2021, Perez was promoted to division chief of the Criminal Investigations Division’s Violent Crimes Unit, the press release said.
