Former KOLR10 host Matt Vereen faces charges in South Carolina

A former KOLR10 sports anchor has been arrested in South Carolina and charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said.

Matt Vereen, 28, has been with WACH Fox as a sports reporter since 2021. Before that, Vereen was a sports anchor for KOLR10 in Springfield. Vereen’s bio is still online on KOLR10’s website, but WACH Fox has removed his bio.

“WACH FOX News understands the seriousness of these allegations and Vereen has been suspended pending an investigation,” WACH Fox said in an online statement. “As this is a personnel matter, the station will not be commenting further at this time.”

KOLR10 did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Vereen possessed and distributed child pornography, investigators said. Child pornography is “a more accurate reflection of the material involved in these heinous and degrading crimes,” the AG’s press release said, replacing the term “child pornography” worldwide.

According to WIS10, child pornography material showing an underage girl was found on Vereen’s Apple laptop during a search on Wednesday. Vereen is also said to have instigated the purchase of at least two videos of underage girls.

According to Fox Carolina reporting, Vereen was given a $40,000 bond. The conditions of his bond include “no personal internet access, no social media use outside of work, and no contact with minors without adult supervision.”
