How to Become a Kingpin in BitLife – Destructoid

from BitLife Dealer Pack is about joining a cartel, taking complete control of your streets and rising to Kingpin or Queenpin. There is a lot of money to be made and just as much danger that can ruin your character’s life or even end your playthrough outright.

How to Become a Kingpin or Queenpin in BitLife

Kingpin or Queenpin are in BitLife requires the purchase and possession of the Dealer job package. Without this, you will not have access to cartels or the ranks that come with them. In short, you will need to spend money on this expansion pack or Boss Mode to unlock every current and future special career.

Joining a cartel

If you already have the Dealer pack, you will get the special talent ‘dealing’, which will help you succeed faster in your future cartel. Once you have created your character, you will age up until they are 18 before moving on to Occupation, Special Careers and Dealer. Choose a cartel and try to join them for a chance to receive an invitation.

There is a chance that the cartel will ban you from joining their ranks. I jumped right in with my first two dealer characters without committing any crimes, as they had the special dealer talent. After trying a third, they were denied entry, with the cartel asking if they could get their hands dirty. You can get around this by committing other crimes in your character’s life, such as pickpocketing, shoplifting, or even harder crimes like train robbery.

Cartel ranks

As soon as you BitLife character joins their first cartel, you can go to the Job tab to view their notoriety, status, and territory control. Before you can become a Kingpin or Queenpin, you must progress through the following ranks:

  • Trader
  • Runner
  • Manufacturer
  • Lieutenant
  • Head feather/Queen feather

Since you start out as a dealer, your first goal is simple: gain control of your first street. Go to the Turf menu, go through each person and try to sell drugs to them. You will slowly gain control of the street as you make successful transactions.

Reaching 100 percent will impress your Kingpin and often result in an almost immediate promotion to Runner. Otherwise, keep at it for a few years until you get your first promotion.

Being successful as a dealer

When selling to people on your street, there are two metrics to consider: their vices and their profession. People with your cartel’s drugs as their vice will be more likely to buy, so focus on maintaining good relationships with them. People with other vices will also say yes occasionally, so don’t skip them. Finally, while most professions are fine, you’ll want to avoid cops and beat up rival dealers rather than sell to them.

There is also a chance that you will encounter undercover agents during your time as a dealer. You can try to run away or cooperate and face the prison sentence. What you do here is entirely up to you, but be careful when approaching different people.

You also have the option of selling pure forms of your cartel’s drugs or mixed with other substances. In some cases, you may even have multiple drug types to choose from. Both have their pros and cons; selling mixed versions may anger your buyers the following year, but they are cheaper to produce, allowing you to cut costs a bit without too much penalty. I usually stick to selling pure forms, but you can safely experiment with both without too much trouble.

After you gain control of your first street, assuming you don’t annoy your lieutenants and Kingpin or Queenpin, you’ll be promoted to Runner. Becoming a Runner unlocks Supply Runs as your next primary method of making money. You can continue to sell on the street for extra cash, but Supply Runs are your go-to for your next promotion.

How do I perform delivery runs?

Supply flows are difficult in BitLifebecause losing products with the wrong packaging or drops happens very often. A lot of this is based on luck, but there are a few areas to focus on:

  • Make sure you have good packaging that will not break easily and in which the products fit well.
  • Draw attention to contacts who are trying to take medications.
  • Choose a quiet place for your drop location.
  • Don’t wait too long to find a good drop location.

Packaging is an important part of the run, as it’s easy to lose product with poor packaging. I struggle with this a lot too; luckily, it won’t ruin your run completely as long as the rest of the process goes smoothly. However, I’ve had success with options like hollowed-out pens, mascara tubes, and deodorant tubes, while options like pool noodles, mason jars, and pizza boxes often fail. In general, the more fragile something is, the more likely it is to be considered poor packaging.

The next thing that often happens is that a cartel contact tries to take some of the product for themselves. Bring this to their attention immediately, because you will often get some extra stock as an apology.

Another option you might find is a random event where you and your cartel spend some free time. I usually choose the options that are safest for my character or the product and haven’t run into many problems here.

Finally, and by far the most important aspect, is the location of your drop. While there is a certain amount of randomness here, you want to focus on quiet locations. Below are a few examples that have often been successful for me:

  • Rural areas
  • Cemeteries
  • Parking lots
  • Back alleys
  • Baseball field

But even the quietest locations can have a few hiccups along the way. For example, while a forest is often safe, squirrels can eat the product or your cartel members can get lost while searching for it. And while parking lots are usually safe, the crates of supplies can occasionally burst open. I’ve yet to find a location that works every time, so be careful and don’t be afraid to wait once or twice for a better spot.

Once you complete seven rounds of deliveries with most of the product intact, you are promoted to manufacturer. This involves some interesting strategies.

Producing the right products

As a manufacturer, your main goal is to create new drug recipes using various cutting agents that generate profit. The exact profit required for a promotion varies by cartel, but you can expect it to be between $75,000 and $100,000 cumulatively.

Being a manufacturer is one of the most challenging roles in the cartel, as you have to pay attention to the cutting medium, percentage, and demand for the product. While there are multiple strategies you can use for this, the main idea is to create recipes that are in high demand, have a relatively low cutting percentage, and a solid medium that doesn’t draw too much attention to itself.

One strategy is to have a recipe with only 10-20 percent cutting agent to make the difference subtle. You can also go the other way and make your cutting agent 90 percent of the mix to create huge gains in a few years. I find that I generally have more success with the latter, as long as the first test subject responds positively.

You’ll also want to make sure that you sell some of the product yourself. Even if it makes a lot of money, you usually don’t get any promotion until you sell a few batches yourself.

Once you reach your cartel’s profit target for your produced goods, you will be promoted to Lieutenant. From here, becoming Kingpin or Queenpin is fairly easy and shouldn’t take much longer than a year or two.

Overthrowing the Kingpin

Now that you are a lieutenant, it is time to be nice and friendly to everyone in your cartel. You must overthrow the current Kingpin, which requires you to gain the trust of every other member so that you can unite and seize power. Approach each cartel member and give them compliments and gifts until they have high relationship stats with you before choosing Mutiny.

Once you overthrow the Kingpin, you’ll see options to use the Assassin’s Blade to complete the process immediately or choose a method from a dropdown menu. I find that I have the most success when I promise rewards to the other members. If your plan works, they’ll overthrow the Kingpin, with someone else taking on the role.

In some cases, someone else will take on the role of Kingpin, preventing you from reaching the rank yourself. If this happens, spend a few more years in the cartel to gain seniority before re-friending everyone and trying a second time. Seniority and a little luck will usually get you there. After your attempt is successful, BitLife character will take on the role of Kingpin or Queenpin in the cartel.
