PTM7950 is awesome!! (Nitro 5 with i5 12500H and RTX 3050)

Summary about PTM7950: It is a phase change thermal pad with great thermal conductivity.

My Nitro 5 AN515-58 equipped with “cool and powerful” i5 12500h got hot like a volcano, temperatures were always 90+, no matter what game you played 89-90 was the minimum and 95-96 was the maximum, sometimes even 99-100. I searched and did everything from changing the processor power state to boost mode (efficient aggressive etc.), but nothing worked. The only viable solution was to disable “CPU Turbo Boost” altogether.

Then I searched and found about liquid metal and PTM7950 💖. Liquid metal was quite risky so I choose PTM7950 and got a link to a Chinese website ebuy7 from this sub (Linus also ordered from here), here is the link. They will charge you ~$3-4 for shipping.

I ordered two pcs 40*40 thermal pad (for both CPU and GPU) just to be sure, but one pad was enough for me even after I wasted a cutout for my GPU. It took about 20 days, the package was delivered by India Post.

Now the most important thing: the temperatures. After a few times of heating/cooling the CPU and GPU, it showed its true nature:

• Halo Infinite (Optimal settings, Previous temperatures: constant 90+ for CPU and 82-83 for GPU, Now: 80-89 for CPU and 77-79 for GPU
• Mafia 1 Definitive Edition (Ultra settings, temperatures were almost the same as above)
• Watch Dogs 1 (Ultra settings, same temperatures as above)

The limit is that temperatures do not exceed 32 degrees, even after several hours of gaming, with CPU turbo boost ON and the cooling profile set to standard.

\**Remember do not touch the pink stuff on the VRAM, do not clean it if you are not going to re-apply it and NO you can not use this pad or any other thermal pad or thermal paste there. That is thermal putty/goo, K5-PRO, inside the Nitro 5 case. My budget was tight so I did not order it.*

PS. When I entered my shipping address, my state was not listed on their site, lol. I contacted their support via WhatsApp and he/she told me to proceed with the order and select a state and later he/she would correct the address on the package. Everything went well except for some glitches from China customs, but I finally got my package. This was my first international purchase 🙂

Everything was in the package, including finger gloves (I threw them away after use)
