Nellore Police tackle theft networks and recover goods

Thank you: The Nellore district police have busted several gangs involved in theft in the area and have seized stolen goods worth over Rs 19 lakh.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Nellore police chief G Krishnakant revealed that a gang of six persons with criminal records had been arrested for committing a series of burglaries in Nellore city in the past eight months. The suspects, who hail from East Godavari and Nellore districts, had formed a group to commit thefts in various areas including Vedayapalem, Nawabpet, Balaji Nagar and Nellore Rural. The police recovered gold jewellery weighing 372 grams, 400 grams of silver items, two motorcycles and electronic goods, worth a total of Rs 13,47,500.

In a separate case, Darghamitta police arrested two persons involved in motorcycle thefts in Nellore district. The accused, identified as K. Sivarama Krishna Reddy of Prakasam district and R. Shravan Kumar of Nellore, were nabbed near Sabari Srirama Kshetram in Nellore city. Police recovered 15 stolen motorcycles worth around Rs 5,95,000 from their possession.

SP Krishnakant said special teams have been formed to tackle the increasing thefts and recover stolen properties. “The teams used technical intelligence and conducted extensive searches to track down the suspects. These arrests are part of a concerted effort to tackle property crimes in the district,” he added.

The district police chief praised the officers involved in both operations for their swift action and investigative skills. He particularly commended the personnel of the Vedayapalem police station and the Darghamitta police for their role in arresting the perpetrators and recovering the stolen items. He also mentioned that the police are continuing their investigation to find possible links to other unsolved cases in the region.
