ASEAN Secretary-General meets with Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia

ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn today met HE Pol. Gen. POR Phak, Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of the Interior and Leader of SOMTC-Cambodia, on the sidelines of the 18th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime and its related meetings in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The two sides discussed Cambodia’s role as a voluntary leader of the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting on Transnational Crime (SOMTC) in the priority area of ​​arms smuggling since 2005. Dr. Kao also thanked Cambodia for initiating the ASEAN Declaration on Combating Arms Smuggling, which was adopted at the 17th AMMTC in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, in 2023, which served as a guideline for ASEAN law enforcement in strengthening cooperation to address the menace of arms smuggling in the region.
