Country Director – Ukraine – Ukraine

Opening hours: Full-time, with some weekend and evening work to support the implementation of the humanitarian programme

Pay: £4,900 – £5,500 gross per month (depending on experience)

Location: Dnipro-based

Duration: Open – Closed (subject to funding pipeline) with possible extension

This role falls within our Ukraine programme and is carried out in Ukraine.

Preferably, applicants should have an existing right to enter Schengen countries for onward travel to Ukraine, for example citizenship/residence permit of a Schengen country or an ETIAS eligible country (https://www.etiasvisa.com/etias-requirements) but this is not essential.

Can you provide excellent leadership and strategic direction to our humanitarian health programming in Ukraine?

UK-Med is a frontline medical aid organisation. We emerged from the NHS and have been working for over 30 years to create a world where everyone has the healthcare they need when crises and disasters strike.

We are looking for a Country Director who will lead and oversee the operational effectiveness, financial security and strategic direction of our work in Ukraine.

The Country Director is responsible for the leadership and management of a complex health program with multiple activity streams, including direct secondary and primary health care, MHPSS and highly specialized clinical training, with multi-million dollar budgets and a staff of over 90 people.

UK-Med has been operating in Ukraine since the start of the war in 2022 and has sharpened its operations to focus on delivering care and building capacity to the people and healthcare institutions closest to the frontline. We have added a number of innovative elements to ensure we remain dynamic and responsive to ever-changing needs and priorities.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrable insight into humanitarian assistance and specific experience and capacity building in the healthcare sector, including relevant experience in a humanitarian context in the field.

You are highly skilled in external representation and will be expected to optimally position UK-Med with external stakeholders including donors, UN and INGO agencies.

You have demonstrable experience in managing and coordinating emergency programs in complex and insecure environments, including experience in security management in insecure environments.

You can demonstrate how you have set strategic direction and successfully led people and teams in demanding environments, and apply your strategic planning skills to deliver impactful programs.
