Regional Security Enhancement: Secretariat of Colombo Security Conclave established

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, along with representatives of the Maldives, Mauritius and Sri Lanka, signed the Charter and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Colombo Security Conclave Secretariat. The move is aimed at enhancing regional security by addressing transnational threats and challenges faced by member states.

The Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) is a strategic platform that brings together National Security Advisors and Deputy NSAs from India, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Mauritius. Key areas of focus include maritime security, counter-terrorism and cyber security, with a specific emphasis on India’s strategic interests in the Indian Ocean Region.

The signing ceremony, hosted by the Sri Lankan government, marked a significant milestone in the CSC Roadmap. The five pillars of cooperation under CSC are Maritime Safety and Security, Combating Terrorism and Radicalization, Combating Human Trafficking and Transnational Organized Crime, Cyber ​​Security, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response. Bangladesh and Seychelles have observer status in the Conclave.
