DCSO Detectives Arrest Tow Truck Driver for Car Theft and Possession of Child Pornography

In December 2023, a detective with the #DCSO Auto Theft Unit was assigned a stolen vehicle case. He received information that led him to believe this case may be connected to several incidents involving Eagle Wing Towing. During his investigation, he discovered:

Brian Chacon, 33, who works for Eagle Wing Towing, may have taken vehicles that he was not legally allowed to impound or possess.

There was only one impound lot where Chacon and Eagle Wing Towing were allowed to store impounded vehicles. Vehicles that were later reported stolen were in Chacon’s possession and were never brought to this impound lot.

They discovered that Chacon was taking numerous vehicles to U-Pull and Pay lots in Denver and Aurora, as well as the Littleton U-Pull. These lots were not the approved lot where Eagle Wing Towing was allowed to take properly impounded vehicles.

Detectives discovered that of the 81 vehicles known to have been sold to a junkyard by Eagle Wing Towing/Brian Chacon or to have some relationship with Eagle Wing Towing/Brian Chacon, 48 vehicles were confirmed stolen. The owners of 4 vehicles confirmed they belonged to Eagle Wing Towing. The identities of 29 vehicles could not be determined because the most recent/real owner could not be located.

During the investigation, detectives also discovered that Chacon was in possession of child pornography.

On 08/09/24 an arrest warrant was issued for Chacon. Denver PD arrested him on 08/11/24. He remains in the DCSO Jail with a $350,000 bond. The detective filed the cases with the recommended charges of:

5 counts of sexual exploitation of a child/possession of child pornography
48 counts of motor vehicle theft in the second degree F4
37 counts of forgery F5
37 counts of Chop Shop activity F5
1 count of Driving While Impaired (TIA)

“I am very proud of the work of our patrol officers and detectives on this case. This suspect preyed on people who trusted that their vehicles would still be where they left them, whether they were broken down or not. My message again: If you come to Douglas County to commit crimes, we will hold you accountable. We will not allow this to happen,” said Sheriff Darren Weekly

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
