Streamwood man denied pretrial release in child pornography case involving 1-year-old girl

WHEATON, Ill. – A judge has granted the state’s request to deny pretrial release to a Streamwood man accused of sexually abusing a 1-year-old girl.

Cruz Estanislao, 24, is charged with four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault (the victim was under the age of 13), one count of Class X child pornography and one count of Class 1 child pornography.

Authorities reported Monday, August 19, that an agent with the Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber Crimes Center Child Exploitation Investigations Unit was notified of child pornography produced on the app “Wickr” under the name “allfun2023.”

During the investigation, authorities and the Hanover Park Police Department identified Estanislao as a suspect. Authorities said it is believed that while Estanislao was producing the child pornography, he was sexually abusing a female relative who was about a year old at the time.

Detectives also suspect Estanislao shared the videos on Wickr between February and April 2023.

On Thursday, August 29, special agents with the Department of Homeland Security took Estanislao into custody after police pulled over a vehicle he was riding in. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, September 23.

“In my thirty-seven years as a prosecutor, I can honestly say that I have never seen anything as unfounded as the charges against Mr. Estanislao,” said DuPage County District Attorney Robert Berlin. “I cannot find the words to describe how disturbing I find the videos allegedly created by the defendant. Child pornography is not a victimless crime, and this case further affirms that belief. I commend the Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber Crimes Center Child Exploitation Investigations Unit for their tremendous efforts in this case and their continued dedication to protecting these young, innocent victims and their families. I sincerely thank the Hanover Park Police Department for their work in this deeply disturbing case. I also thank Assistant District Attorney Grace Barsanti for her work in preparing a strong case against Mr. Estanislao and for her continued efforts to prosecute those who would produce and distribute such images.”
