We create opportunities for orphans and needy children to go to school, gain an education and build a better life for themselves. Summary of the role

As a Fundraising Officer, you will work within a team to create, develop and nurture relationships with volunteers, donors, partners and your local communities to maximize revenue. Reporting directly to the Regional Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager, you will be responsible for the full cycle of maximizing donation revenue from research, cultivation, solicitation and management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be an ambassador at events, support the execution of READ Foundation’s vision and ensure the charity’s profile and reputation are upheld
  • Maintain and develop relationships with HNW/potential/existing donors to maximize donations
  • Promote philanthropic engagement and activities to ensure we organizationally maximize opportunities to achieve the greatest return
  • Organize regular fundraising events and dinners and manage and develop volunteers
  • Hold regular meetings with the Regional Head of Fundraising to evaluate progress and success of stated goals and objectives
  • Always operate within the Institute of Fundraising best practice guidelines and comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Work from an innovative, positive and creative ethos, identifying new fundraising opportunities
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures as stated in the company manual, including health and safety requirements
  • Expand the capacity of the READ Foundation team in fundraising for major donors and the community
  • Identify and secure additional prospects by exploring networks and industries
  • Create, nurture and develop volunteer teams in the region to support the team
  • Develop and manage effective relationships and ensure excellent and consistent supporter management
  • Work with broader fundraising networks and communities to identify opportunities for engagement

  • Act as a central point of contact and support in the northern regions for all questions and support requests from volunteers, including providing prompt and thorough responses and resolving any complaints
  • Act as a central point of contact and support in the Northern region for all volunteering requests from internal departments, in particular the Fundraising and UK Programmes departments.
  • Manage and supervise volunteers and interns in the Northern regions, including developing their skills, providing volunteer engagement initiatives and promoting a positive working environment.
  • Actively expanding the READ Foundation’s volunteer database in the northern regions, including promoting volunteer opportunities, processing new volunteer application requests and conducting interviews with volunteer team leaders
  • Recruit interns in the Northern region for various departments to create additional staff support by drawing up job profiles, posting vacancies and conducting interviews.
  • Prepare volunteer materials, such as collection boxes, t-shirts, merchandise, and donation forms, for all volunteer activities
  • Design and implement local volunteer projects and outreach programs to increase public interaction with the READ Foundation and improve local relations
  • Discover new and innovative ideas to maximise the potential of the READ Foundation’s volunteer programme
  • Carrying out a range of administrative tasks in support of the wider volunteer management team and the People and Culture department
  • Occasional paid trips abroad with potential donors and assignments
  • Any other duties as directed by and agreed with the Regional Head of Fundraising

Personal specification

  • Experience in effectively managing a portfolio with diverse donors and potential donors is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills to build long lasting relationships
  • Experience in event and project management
  • Previous experience juggling a demanding workload
  • Progressive, strategic and innovative
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent research skills
  • Basic experience with Excel spreadsheets
  • Organized, punctual and the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrable track record of achieving objectives
